INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Monday Night Football delivered a dramatic night at SoFi Stadium as the Los Angeles Rams overwhelmed the New York Giants 28-6, with Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams producing a huge offensive performance while Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart left the game with a knee injury.
Stafford Turns Monday Night Into His Own Show
Matthew Stafford was at the center of the Rams’ offensive explosion.
The veteran quarterback completed 22 of 31 passes for 327 yards and four touchdowns, helping Los Angeles bounce back from its Week 1 defeat. The performance also moved Stafford into sixth place on the NFL’s all-time touchdown-passing list, with 427 career touchdown passes according to the Rams’ official recap.
But Stafford wasn’t doing it alone.
Davante Adams Delivers a Monster Performance
Davante Adams became one of the biggest stories of the night.
The Rams receiver finished with 8 receptions for 195 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a spectacular 31-yard touchdown reception. His 195 receiving yards were the fourth-highest single-game total of his 13-year regular-season career.
Adams also moved to 119 career receiving touchdowns, leaving him just two behind Larry Fitzgerald on the NFL’s all-time list.
Jaxson Dart Injury Changes the Game
The biggest concern for Giants fans came early.
Jaxson Dart suffered a knee injury during New York’s opening drive and was eventually ruled out. Jameis Winston entered the game, but the Giants struggled to generate offense after Dart’s departure. Winston finished 11-of-27 for 111 yards and one interception.
The Giants’ injury problems didn’t stop there. Malik Nabers suffered a shoulder injury but returned, while Brian Burns and Andrew Thomas also dealt with injuries during the game.
Aaron Donald’s NFL Return Gets the Spotlight
Another major storyline was the return of Aaron Donald.
After nearly three years away from NFL game action, Donald suited up for the Rams and made his presence felt immediately. He finished with three tackles, including a tackle for loss, in his 2026 season debut.
His return produced one of the night’s biggest moments for Rams fans, as SoFi Stadium welcomed the three-time AP Defensive Player of the Year back to the field.
What This Means Going Forward
The Rams move to 1-1 after the victory, while the Giants also sit at 1-1 following their Week 1 win over Dallas.
For Los Angeles, the victory provides an immediate response after the team’s opening-week loss. For New York, the bigger question now centers on Dart’s knee and whether the young quarterback will be available for the Giants’ next game.
One Monday night, two very different stories: Stafford and Adams turned SoFi Stadium into a highlight reel, while the Giants left with major questions surrounding their quarterback and several injured players.
